Colonial bread recipe



Recipe for colonial bread in our easy bread recipes collection.

Recipe ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter or applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 1/3 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 3 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 package yeast

How to make colonial bread

  • Place cornmeal a large bowl.
  • Carefully pour boiling water into cornmeal, stirring to make sure it is smooth.
  • Let stand to cool for about 30 minutes.
  • Stir in molasses, salt and butter.
  • Place cornmeal mixture into bread pan. Then bread flour and then yeast.
  • Use the Light setting.
